Sustainable Impact at One HP ‘26
The HP Experiential Events team recognizes the role we play in contributing to a sustainable future for all and it is our
responsibility to reduce the negative impact our events have on the environment and create a positive social and
economic impact.
HP’s One HP sustainability planning aligns closely with several key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
(SDGs) and are another way we are linking our work in local communities to critical global initiatives.
Hotel
- Goal of zero waste to landfill for event-related materials.
- Strategically placed water stations with eco-friendly, recyclable cups.
- Lanyard recycling bins located at/near registration for easy collection.
- Hotel is Green Key Global certified, demonstrating third-party sustainability leadership.
- Guest towel reuse program supports water and energy conservation; savings are invested in a tree-planting initiative (one tree planted every minute).
- Hotel-wide commitment to eliminate single-use plastics (straws, stirrers, cotton buds, individual toiletry bottles, plastic cups).
Food & Beverage
- Eco-friendly cups available for attendees without reusable bottles, paired with clearly marked recycling bins.
- Hotel sources local produce whenever possible featuring healthy, locally grown food and drink.
- Food waste is composted, reducing landfill impact.
- Over-fished species are banned across all hotel restaurants.
- Promoting Hydration – infused water stations throughout event
- Incorporating smoothies and juices into breaks and meals
- Including snacks that are healthy and high in protein
- Include dietary and allergy info on food labeling
Offsite Evening Event
- Offsite venue selected within walking distance to reduce transportation impact.
General Session AV & Production
- Production, scenic, and staging equipment reused whenever possible.
- E-waste recycling program in place for appropriate materials.
- AV and production equipment rented or purchased locally when financially feasible to reduce transport miles.
- All equipment powered down when not in active use to minimize energy consumption.
Environmental signage:
- Minimized use of plastics in print; vinyl, foamboard, and adhesive signage reduced wherever feasible.
- Extensive use of digital signage throughout the venue.
- Printed signage used only when necessary and supplemented with digital formats.
Other Event Elements
- All furniture and furnishings are rented rather than purchased to reduce waste.
- Any carpet, décor, or scenic elements will include a defined post-event life plan (reuse, donation, repurposing, or recycling).
- Work with Fairmont for post-event reporting from the event.
- Risk management plan in place
- Portal / mobile app Q& A on health and safety
Post Show Report
Calculate the carbon footprint of One HP ’26 using data from:
- Air and ground travel (by attendees, staff, and suppliers), freight shipments, hotel stays, F&B qtys and food breakdowns (beef vs. chicken vs. veg), venue energy use (electricity, etc.), venue Waste (trash, recycling, compost)
